Financial Aid Displacement Advisory

In compliance with Senate Bill 2995(c), we want to ensure prospective and current students understand how to apply for and maintain financial aid at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Applying for gift aid at the University of Texas at Dallas

Gift aid includes grants, scholarships, and other awards that do not need to be repaid. You can apply for gift aid by:

  • Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) and provide required documentation. To determine which form you should complete, please visit our Eligibility page or the College for All Texans website.
  • Explore the UT Dallas Scholarship Listing and submit applications for institutional scholarship consideration.
  • Check with your school or academic department for additional scholarship opportunities.

Financial Aid Timeline

  • Submit your FAFSA or TASFA by the financial aid priority deadline. We recommend submitting at least two weeks early to allow time to receive and respond to any requests for additional information.
    • Students who do not meet our priority deadlines risk not being considered for financial aid programs that are subject to annual appropriations. You will still be considered for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Loan and Federal Direct PLUS Loan programs.
  • If you are awarded a third-party scholarship, please notify the Office of Financial Aid promptly. In some cases, your financial aid package may need to be adjusted

Recommendations to Maximize Gift Aid

  • Complete your FAFSA or TASFA by the financial aid priority deadline. Additionally, apply early and broadly for institutional and external scholarship opportunities.

Recommendations to Prevent Reduction of Gift Aid

  • Report any third-party scholarships as soon as possible.
  • Review and follow the renewal requirements for your gift aid to maintain eligibility.
