Competitive Scholarship Waiver

The purpose of this program is to allow a Texas public college or university to grant a waiver of nonresident tuition charges to students who receive scholarships totaling at least $1,000 for the academic year. The scholarship(s) must have been awarded by UT Dallas, must be competitive, and be available to both residents and nonresidents.

Eligible students include nonresident or international students receiving a competitive institutional scholarship of at least $1,000 (or a combination of scholarships totaling at least $1,000 for the academic year). In the scholarship process, you must have competed with other students, including Texas residents, for the award. You may receive a waiver of nonresident tuition for the period of time covered by the scholarship, not to exceed 12 months; the benefit does not cross academic years. Waivers may be received in any year in which you meet the competitive scholarship requirements.

The State of Texas limits how many competitive scholarship waivers may be offered, and the awarding of such waivers is at the sole discretion of the University. The Office of Financial Aid processes Competitive Scholarship Waivers.

For further information on the program and how a scholarship meets the competitive criteria, please see the University’s policy on awards qualifying for tuition waivers.
